Luis Villanueva is a 16 years old cancer survivor from Wasco, CA. He has a kind smile and a bright future. He was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive type of cancer found in the bone, on May 29, 2018. Luis had chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumor from his leg. He is still on crutches but he is done with treatment. He has checkups once a week at Children’s Hospital Madera and his mom, Olivia, drives Luis every Tuesday for his appointments. While receiving Chemo weekly, Luis would have to stay in the hospital three to four days at a time. His mom had to quit work as she stayed with him in the hospital. With limited funds she says paying for gas was impossible. The Josh Farler Fund provided gas cards that provided financial relief, allowing her to take him to his treatment without worry. She thanks the Josh Farler Fund and all who help make the gas card program possible through the CBCC Foundation for Community Wellness. Luis wants to feel better, finish high school and become a Welder. He beat cancer…we’re interested in seeing what he’ll accomplish next.
