On December 13th, 2014 the AIS Cancer Center dedicated the Josh Farler Foundation bench. This bench, closest to the door, is part of the AIS Memorial Garden.
The Josh Farler Foundation has committed to an multi-year funding of the Josh Farler Transportation Fund with the AIS Cancer Center. This fund will assist Kern county residence with transportation, food, and lodging while recieving treatment.

My name is Alicia Rodriguez and I live in Bakersfield, CA. I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in February 2015 and recently had a recurrence. I was doing well I thought. 2 years ago I got a transplant and I thought I was cancer free but I had a recurrence. The doctors explained that I have an aggressive cancer which is why I had the recurrence and why my markers were increasing. I started a new chemotherapy treatment in April and since then my markers have decreased. It seems like I am responding well to this new treatment. I am being treated at the AIS Cancer Center. As far as transportation, sometimes I drive myself, other times my husband or my daughter come with me. The commute is about 20 minutes. I receive gas cards from the Josh Farler Foundation. They have helped so much. When I’m not feeling well my husband doesn’t go to work so he can care after me. With the assistance from this foundation, we haven’t had to worry about spending money on gas. This has helped us by putting us at ease about my transportation to my appointments. It has provided a lot of relief. When I was traveling to and from Los Angeles for appointments, the social worker at AIS was able to help provide constant financial assistance for the traveling expenses through the Josh Farler foundation. I would like to say thank you so much and God bless all of you! You might think your donations are not a big deal but they are. It meant so much to me to be able to receive assistance through this foundation and I don’t think I could have done it otherwise. |
